Lies, Damned Lies, and Bill Nemitz

Lies, Damned Lies, and Bill Nemitz

In this morning’s Portland Press Herald, Bill Nemitz  holds forth on the actions of South Portland city officials for using municipal resources and taxpayer money to lobby against TABOR by sending flyers to residents of the city. He also comments upon Speaker Hannah Pingree’s use of state resources to oppose TABOR II. Bill thinks these are acceptable behaviors by public officials, and derides the supporters of TABOR for thinking differently.

Les Otten- Paying to Play?

When we started The Republican Project almost a year ago, we stated that one of our primary missions is to support principled Republican candidates for public office. Our definition of a principled candidate is fairly straightforward- a person that supports the GOP platform and core Republican principles, and exhibits a personal political history devoid of expedient and questionable actions.

Audrey Buffington- Video Presentations

Here are links to some very well done and informative videos produced by Audrey Buffington, one of The Republican Project's earliest supporters. Well worth the time spent watching- check them out:

Random Walk- Thursday, October 8, 2009

I’ve mostly questions this week. Please use the comment section to share your thoughts.

We’re Still Watching, Senator

With the Congressional Summer Recess and all of the townhall meetings now in the rearview mirror, it’s important for all not to lose focus and stop paying attention to the health care debate that continues in the US Senate.

Random Walk- Wednesday, September 30, 2009

Rumblings in Augusta……………..apparently there is quite the electronic discussion going within the House Republican Caucus. Some of our GOP reps are looking to formulate a unified strategic plan designed to take down the Democratic left during the next election cycle. These are the same 10 or so reps that consistently take a stand and speak their minds- they don’t fear losing the next election, for they are determined to actually serve in the current term.

A few random thoughts, ideas, and commentary on the political landscape:

Open to Ideas?

I listened to the President’s address to Congress last night, and while I fervently hoped that he would have taken to heart the reactions of the people over the past few months, I was extremely disappointed to hear him present basically the same plan again, set against the backdrop of a “severe crisis” that just doesn’t exist. Obama had the opportunity to truly roll back the entire debate and concentrate on the issues that do exist, but that was not the path he decided to follow.

The Obama Corruption Files- August 24, 2009

Within the last week or so, a couple of things took place in connection with the Obama Administration that deserve much more scrutiny than has been applied by the media. These are the high points of these issues- for more information simply Google the salient points.

Drill There- Not Here, and Hey, Use OUR Money!

This one is stupid-simple:

The Maine Congressional Delegation- Afraid of Their Constituents?

As the Congressional Summer Recess reaches its halfway point, people across America have taken much time out of their productive days to attend the traditional town hall-style forums with their Washington representatives. This year the primary topic is the health care reform debate, and there has been much anger displayed from all corners of the country towards Congressmen and Senators from outraged citizens.

Tilting at Windmills- A Response from Congresswoman Pingree

Knowing full well I was assuming the role of Don Quixote, a few weeks ago I contacted Chellie Pingree's office in DC and asked that she please READ the Waxman-Markey Global Warming Extravaganza before voting. I went further and stated that I was confident that once she READ the bill, she could not in good conscience support such bad legislation.

My bad- I assumed a conscience on her part. Totally forgot about the liberal mental disorder.

Augusta Tea Party- July 4, 2009

Several members of The Republican Project went to Augusta on Independence Day to observe the second Tea Party. We were hoping to avoid the inevitable rain event- no such luck. The rain started not long after 2PM, and continued until our departure at 5PM.

Attendance at the highest point totaled at best 350 persons. That number was well below 200 by the time we decided to get out of the rain. Nowhere near the amount of people that showed up at the last Augusta event, or the Tea Party sponsored by The Republican Project at the Maine State Pier last April.

It’s Time To Get After Our Senators- Again!

Now that the latest assault on the American people has passed the House in the form the Waxman-Markey Energy Bill, or as I prefer to characterize it, the Cap & Tax Act, it is time to ratchet up the pressure on the Senate to make sure this travesty does not become law.

The Effective Messaging of The Left

Since the beginning of this week, members of The Republican Project have been working to promote the Tea Party being held this afternoon in Portland.  There’s been a newspaper interview, an on-air television discussion, and a radio segment. Each venue was structured to ensure that an opposing view to the Tea party phenomenon was supplied. In the newspaper interview it came from the obvious left-wing bias of the author, while the radio and television spots were constructed to have another person take the role of being opposed to the Tea Party.
