Maine State Pier Tea Party - Portland 4/15/09
Several hundred people of all ages, philosophies, and political affiliations gathered at the Maine State Pier in Portland on “Tax Day,” April 15th, to express their displeasure with the runaway tax and spend policies of local, state, and federal government. The “Tea Party,” promoted by Maine Taxpayers United and the Republican Project, was aimed at the fiscal irresponsibility of politicians of all parties, at all levels of government.
The Steuer Home - Cumberland
The bitter cold in Maine did not keep more than 50 conservative Mainers from gathering at Dave and Callie Steuer's house in Cumberland on Wednesday evening, February 4th.
The meeting began with a social hour featuring delicious Mexican cuisine provided by Costa Vida of South Portland. Dean Scontras then sounded another rally cry, explaining The Republican Project's mission of reforming, rebuilding and refocusing the Maine Republican Party- a message that was enthusiastically received!
New Gloucester RP Informational Meeting
Dean Scontras gave a presentation of the Republican Project to an audience of 20 area Republicans in New Gloucester on January 30.
Farmington Campaign and Meeting with Charlie Webster
About 20 Republican Project volunteers braved the wind and cold to lend a hand to Lance Harvell's campaign in Farmington last Saturday morning.
North Berwick RP Informational Meeting
On Friday, January 16th, about 25 committed conservatives braved the bitter cold to meet at the Community Center in North Berwick for an informational meeting on The Republican Project. RP Director Ryan McCabe organized and MC’d the event. Republican Project CEO Dean Scontras made a presentation of the purpose, goals, and progress to date of the project. Executive Director Ted Ropple also updated the group on recent enhancements to web site as well as planned future enhancements.
Maine Taxpayers United Board Meeting - Freeport
On Saturday morning, January 17, Maine Taxpayers United held their Board of Directors meeting in Freeport. After the business meeting, Dean Scontras, president of The Republican Project, gave a presentation of the Project's mission, progress, and accomplishments to date. The presentation was extremely well received by the group, and a lengthy discussion ensued, from which it was evident that the two groups share much in common.
Lake Region GOP Meeting - Bridgton
On December 10, The Lakes Region GOP met in Bridgton, with thoughts on how to put life back into the Republican party in Maine by Senator David Hastings of Fryeburg, Rep Rick Sykes of Harrison, Rep Rich Cebra of Naples, Rep Ralph Sarty of Denmark, and Rep John Robinson of Raymond. This was followed by a presentation on The Republican Project by its president, Dean Scontras.

The Quinn Home - Falmouth
Over 40 people filed into the Quinn's home in Falmouth, Maine on Tuesday evening to learn about the Republican Project. The discussion was brisk and the questions were robust. Most importantly, the enthusiasm was high. Some had traveled from as far as Rumford to listen and contribute their thoughts and ideas. Most folks confessed to not being active in their local chapters of the Maine GOP. In fact, there was even an 'interested' Democrat amongst the group. She provided great insight into the operating environment in the Maine Democratic Party!
